Recap of January 2011 Discussion, as of January 24, 2011

Thank you to all that were in attendance of the January meeting to discuss the future of HPVA. Here is a brief outline of what was discussed and most agreed upon by participants.

Schedule:
Meetings will continue to be on the second Wednesday of the month through November. We are also in process of finding a new home for the meetings.

Programming:
To spread the responsibility and give variety to our programming, we are asking members that they join or form a committee responsible for each quarter of the year. These can be anywhere from 2 – 4 members. The purpose of this is to pull from out own resources, skill, and contacts we each have. We will also schedule in special competitions and the end-of-year banquet to complete the calendar. Please contact HPVA if you are interested in participating in a committee, houstonpva@gmail.com

Dues:
Dues will remain $100 per person. All guests are $20 per meeting.
A proposed “advanced” status membership was discussed for members displaying exemplary service in the field. This was proposed to be introduced later this year or the beginning of the 2012 season.

Leadership:
A similar structure that has been in place will continue with the addition of the programming committees.

A Message from Trisha Von Lanken

“Just wanted to pass this information on to you. I follow this person on twitter and I feel she has a lot to offer in teaching on selling for wedding professionals. She is hosting a workshop in Houston in March.  If you could send out the word to your local PVA members, I think, they would greatly benefit from her workshop.”
